Treasure Coast Junior Lifeguard's Summer Camp

About Us

Based in Martin County’s Jensen Beach and Palm Beach County’s Carlin Beach Park, Marine First Responders is staffed by highly trained marine safety professionals dedicated to minimizing risk and maximizing safety and FUN in the water.

We host Junior Lifeguard Summer Camps for youth ages 9–17, offering comprehensive water safety education combined with fun, physical, and confidence‑building activities. Our surf lifesaving camps include surfing, prone paddling, rescue board skills, ocean swimming, and challenging beach games and competition that promote fitness while instilling core values such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, and responsibility.

Most importantly, our program helps children develop a passion for the ocean while building a strong foundation in ocean situational awareness, rip current knowledge, personal water safety, and respect for the marine environment.

Our sports recreation and educational camps proudly serve families throughout the Treasure Coast, including Jensen Beach, Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, and Vero Beach at Martin County’s Jensen Public Beach. We also serve Hobe Sound, Tequesta, Jupiter, Juno Beach, North Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens at Palm Beach County’s Carlin Park.

Our Mission & Training Standards

Marine First Responders respects the marine environment and the communities we serve. We are dedicated to minimizing risk and maximizing safety in the water through comprehensive water safety education, including Treasure Coast Junior Lifeguard Summer Camps and Surf Lifesaving competition events.

Marine First Responders’ specialized training and education are paramount for anyone who spends time in or around the water. Our programs teach participants how to stay safe—and how to act as a first responder when someone is in danger. Guided by the belief that prevention leads to fewer rescues, our community learns to identify and assess risk in the ever‑changing marine environment while acquiring essential safety skills, advanced rescue techniques, and life‑saving procedures through our surf lifesaving camps.

Paramedics, nurses, and doctors cannot save lives without the assistance of trained first responders. With training from Marine First Responders, participants learn to become an essential link in the chain of survival, prepared to respond effectively in emergencies until advanced care arrives.

Marine First Responders (MFR) is a licensed training provider for the American Red Cross (ARC) and follows the ocean surf lifesaving guidelines of the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) and the American Red Cross. Our instruction is grounded in nationally recognized standards and best practices to ensure the highest level of safety, professionalism, and preparedness.

Surf's up at Junior Lifeguard Camp

“Surf beach lifeguards must be intimately familiar with waves and wave action so that they can effectively intervene when the powerful surf overwhelms swimmers, surfers, boaters and others. It is strongly recommended that all surf beach lifeguards spend extensive periods in activities such as board surfing, body surfing, and paddling rescue boards. It allows lifeguards to learn to read waves, anticipate when they will break, and use the same forces that endanger swimmers to quickly rescue them.

"-United Surf Lifesaving Association/Open Water Lifesaving 3rd edition"

At camp there will be a daily educational progression on how waves are created, how they travel and how they react to local topography cause breaking waves and rip currents. Junior’s will learn how to read waves and the surf line up. After lunch everyday juniors will enjoy extensive period  in board surfing, body surfing and paddling boarding.
